Do you pray scripture over your daughter? Have you ever thought of starting a Prayer Journal of prayers for your daughter?

When our son (first baby) was born I started a prayer journal. I don’t even remember when or why I started it but I know it had to do with my desire to have a record of my prayers and the scripture I had prayed over him. It started as a way to remind myself just how many times God answered my prayers.

What is a Prayer Journal?

A prayer journal is basically a journal full of prayers. Usually people have prayer journals for themselves but I like to create ones for my kids from me. It is a place where you write down your prayers as you pray them.

This provides a great way to strengthen and focus your prayer life. It makes a great gift to pass along to your children once they grow and leave the house. It also holds you accountable to praying for something specific (like your child).

How to Start a Prayer Journal of Prayers for Your Daughter

Starting a prayer journal for you daughter is really simple. So, it doesn’t take much to do other than a journal, pens, your Bible and a prayerful heart. Simply choose a journal that you will dedicate as the prayer journal of prayers for you daughter. Then begin searching the scriptures for verses to pray over your daughter (I have several listed below to get you started).

Here are some of my favorite journal options to help get you going

What to Write in Your Prayer Journal for Your Daughter

The beauty of this prayer journal for your daughter is there is no right or wrong way to do it. It is your book of prayers for her. You get to decide how you want it to be laid out and what you want to do.

To start I write the date, Bible verse and my prayer for that day. In addition, I wrote a note at the very beginning describing what the prayer journal was and my hope for it. I plan to give mine to my daughter when she graduates and moves out on her own (honestly by then it may be several journals worth of prayers).

It is my desire that this journal is a piece of my heart for her that she can have no matter how far apart we are. I hope she sees the countless prayers I prayed for her and how God has met every single one with His perfect answer.

Bible Verse to Pray over your Daughter

Below you will find a few ideas on what verses to pray over your daughter. One thing I do is as I’m reading my Bible I tend to circle any verse that I think is a good one to pray over my children. I got this idea from the book, Praying Circles Around Your Children

Prayers of Blessing and Peace for Your Daughter

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.

Numbers 6:24-26 ESV

I pray my daughter would come to know the grace God so freely gives. I ask that God would make His face shine on my daughter and that she would be His image bearer. Give her joy as she continues to grow and that her peace, faith and joy are found and rooted in you, Jesus. Amen.

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.

1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 ESV

Thank you Lord that I can cling to your promises and know you love my daughter more than I ever can. I pray you would sanctify her. Fill her with your love. I ask that you would keep her blameless before you and that you would be her heart’s desire. I know you are already preparing a way for her. Lord, I ask that she would answer your calling on her life at a young age. I thank you for all you are going to do in and through her.

Prayers for Your Daughter’s Salvation

And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

Matthew 4:19 ESV

I pray that when you call my daughter to follow you that she will gladly follow. I ask that she follow you with all her heart, mind, strength and soul. May she have a passion in following you that will not waver under pressure. I pray she joyfully shares you wherever she goes.

Because if you confess wit you mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe with your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved.

Romans 10:9 ESV

Lord, it is my heartfelt prayer that my daughter comes to accept you as her Lord and Savior. I ask that she would believe in her heart early on that you sent your Son to die on a cross and be raised for her redemption. I pray for her salvation and love for you!

Prayers for Your Daughter to be a Godly Woman

Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies.

Proverbs 31:10 ESV

I pray that as my daughter grows she will become a virtuous woman of God. Fill her with your love and grace. I pray for her future husband that he would be a Godly leader who loves her for the precious jewel she is. I pray she would be a Godly wife full of grace, mercy and peace.

Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers and example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.

1 Timothy 4:12

Lord, I thank you for the blessing my daughter is! I pray she would know her true worth and identity in you at a young age. I pray she would be bold in her faith at a young age and that she would let no one despise her for her youth. Let her be a Godly example for those around her. That she would show her peers, those older and younger what it means to live a life for you.

The Heart Behind a Prayer Journal for Your Daughter

It is my prayer that my daughter becomes a child of God but I know that decision is up to her. The best I can do for her is to continue to ask God to work in her life. God is faithful and he hears our prayers.

I hope you are able to start a prayer journal for you daughter today and begin to see the fruits of your prayers manifested in front of you. I love reading the prayers I prayed when she was first born to what I pray now. And to see how God has already answered some of my prayers.

It is never too late to start a prayer journal for your daughter. Even if she is grown and gone from the home, I encourage you to start a prayer journal of prayers for her. Give it to her when you think she needs it the most or save it for when you are no longer in her life and she will need you the most.
